I work in IT and periodically we replace laptop batteries due to age or failure. I know that most of the time it is due to 1 or 2 bad cells in the packs. If anyone is interested in these batteries, please let me know as I have 3 or 4 battery packs worth at my house. I was going to use them for a project but never go to it. I am quite sure that they are all unprotected but I will leave that up to the person who takes them to find out. I know the last one I took apart(very carefully) all the cells checked out at 4.18+v, so I think it was just a bad chip in the battery controller board. At any rate they are Free. I will ship them if you pay all shipping costs, but pickup would be easier.
All cells are 18650 cells, some still in original Dell battery packs, others removed and stored in safe containers. Most of the packs that were taken apart have had the battery tabs saved where possible. All batteries still have their plastic covering on them.
