New Track Space in Westbrook

Hello,
I have been asked to start an indoor R/C track at the Westbrook Community Center ( the old junior high ). I have been given the entire gym on Wednesday nights from 5:30 on. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in coming out to check it out. Right now it's $5 a night to race. I am doing this as a volunteer only. There is no money in it for me. Actually I have spent my own money to try to make this work.
I had my first race tonight but no one showed up. So if I can get some people to come out that would be great. Just stop by and see the track for free.

I this gets off the ground I have been given permission to use the fields outside to make a track as well.

I see some folks have checked out my post. Is there anyone that is interested in coming out to Westbrook to race? I could also push to have the Community Center an R/C club meeting location. Let me know.

You might want to check with Ryan from the cumberland R/C club, he might be able to help rally the troops down that way,, I think he ran the races down there for quite a few years

i live right around the corner from the community center. it would be great to have a track in my back yard. the outdoor setup sounds very interesting. where do you think they might let you set a track up?

You have a couple of us coming next wed night. you running on the gym floor or carpet?

Right now i am running on the gym floor. I have several commercial mats at my disposal so I put those in all the corners. The straight away is a little slick. But its pretty cool to drift through the long turn i put at the top of the track. I have two jumps and a wash board section. Right now it's pretty wide open. I figured i would make it a little more open due to the slippery floor.

If this takes off I have been told we could start on the baseball diamond out back. I think I would rather we build in the field next to it so we can really tear it up. The director is wide open to what ever we need for space as long as we have interest.My name is tom by the way. I will be at the community center around 5:00 on Wednesday.

what are you racing there for classes.

We will run what ever we can to start. If we get enough cars in a certain class we will keep it long term. I also found out that we can have the gym until 10pm if needed.

Thanks to the group that came out last week. I have a few parents that are heading to buy a short course truck for their kids. I will be running this wednesday. I hope to be a little more organized and we can run a few races.
