Re: WORLD GT RACING
The rules make the class simple, but to not allow the Trinity D3.5 series of motors is foolish while allowing any other ROAR approved 17.5's.The D3.5 is ROAR approved .With new motors coming from Tekin,Reedy,LRP and others will have similar motors coming out .So to rule out one series ,when other's like it are coming out is foolish.Another things is even aftermarket company motors are ROAR legal ,so are you going to be able to run them?.Plus its not like the Trinity's are more money.
The other thing is ,if you want hobby shop support for this class, you must use a brand of battery that hobby shops can buy.SMC has gone strictly online ,they no longer sell to hobby shops .They did this so they can compete with the low price Chinese batteries.Always use brands that any one who goes to any hobby shop can get.Supporting brands that you can only buy online does not encourage hobby shops to support any race "class".

Re: WORLD GT RACING
WITH THE RELEASE OF THE NEW TRINITY D3.5 MOTOR,
NEW NOVAK MOTOR AND THE RUMORED THUNDER POWER MOTOR, IT HAS BECOME
APPARENT THERE HAS BEEN A BREAKTHROUGH IN TECHNOLOGY. THIS NEW CROP OF
MOTORS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED ON THE 17.5 WGT CLASS. APPROVED MOTORS
ARE FROM LAST SEASON, IE THUNDER POWER, NOVAK SS OR BALLISTIC, TRINITY
DUO 1.2.3 ETC.
As far as the batteries.......the SMC 4000 25C Spec Pack...........they are very available to hobby shops. Breakneck and Ray & Robins both stock and sell these batteries. They are not just available online..... (sorry for the caps..............copy and paste)

Re: WORLD GT RACING
Lenny
Go to SMC website and read the open letter to customers and shops. Some distributors have some stock left but once its gone they will not be getting any more .I would have to talk to Ron from Breckneck ,but i believe this is why he was selling GEN ACE 1s lipos .Because the SMC were no longer going to be sold through wholesalers.Plus SMC not known for keeping a constant supply of batteries .You may not want to limit the class to just one battery company.
Has for the motor ,it listed as any ROAR approved motor not WGT and those 3.5 is listed as ROAR approved. This will just confuse racers ,because the class rules say ANY ROAR approved motor.
I am not trying start anything, but customers have already commented on these "issue's"
so its nice to get these things situated before the season starts.

Re: WORLD GT RACING
I guess I'm a Fool...haha...There is a reason why I ruled out the trinity 3.5's motors. They are specific built to the extreme of the ROAR rules and are the dominant force in the current oval racing community So much that at the Oval Masters in Greenville there whole field was all 3.5's and 1 Thunder Power amongst them. There is Rumor of Trinity sending the initial batch of 3.5's too Roar for approval which where not of regular production, If you look into some of the ongoing threads it's like nothing I have ever seen before. I just do not want people to think they need to have a D3.5 to be competative. So it that foolish ? It was my decision 100% so please direct all current slander or mooking at me.
Now for the SMC Batteries. Danny at SMC is still supplying the 4000 25C Spec Lipo's He has run out of the previous red cases and are now being shipped in the same cases the 6000MAH 28C packs and where the bullet connectors usually are is were the wires run out of the case.
Thank you

Re: WORLD GT RACING
All this bantering back and forth is what killed carpet racing many years ago! We keep this up it will never get up and running. Pick a set of rules and run with it! Make it accesible to everyone! And most of all keep it cost effective! My opinion spec motor, spec battery, and tires that are accesible to buy anywhere. Thats how you build the class. Again in my opinion.

Re: WORLD GT RACING
I agree that "Spec" is best One other thought is, when designing the track layout, make it fairly simple and not to technical. It is very frustrating for the beginners (like me ) when it's to hard.

Re: WORLD GT RACING
Hey Dan........................put your mind at ease.................
Talked to Ryan and he plans a layout that is more simple like us beginners need!
Rest assured, this will be a great class with lots of good racing and tons of FUN
The rules Ryan has in place are spot on..............no need to make any changes now.........maybe some
tweaking down the road?

Re: WORLD GT RACING
After talking to the offroad racers last night it looks like we will have a great turnout for onroad racing on Thursday nights. So far there are about a dozen WGT cars that I know of for sure and the number is rising!!! Looks like everyone is running the CRC car. Great choice. I look to be the only associated car out there LOL. Looking forward to Dec 13th!

Re: WORLD GT RACING
If I can find the info on converting my 10L SS so that I can center mount the battery (or balance it out) you won't be the only Associated. Maybe the only RC10R5...

I'm not aware of any Conversion kit to go from a 10l SS to a WGT. The Shop has about a half dozen or so kits coming in this coming week plus a Dozen SMC Lipo Packs an tires. I'll be personaly over seeing the support parts and will have some misc's stuff available in the pits during racings. Looks like mostly CRC x10 LE's due the the parts availablilty through Horizon Hobby Dist.
I know there are is a AE, CRC and a Xray near ready!! Rumors of a Speedmarchant too haha..
For those of you guys building new kits Checkout this Link From Calandra Racing Concepts for Chassis Preperation!! Lets see some of these builds!!
