slash class tire cutting/siping
should tire cutting/siping be allowd in the stock class? it makes one tire lug into two, and allows more flex of the tread, making the tire be able to grab every bit of traction it can,

Re: slash class tire cutting/siping
Tire cutting should not be allowed since it changes the stock configuration of the tread. There are plenty of tires on the market that will satisfy those that want more bite. If you "modify" the tread then the truck belongs in a modified class. Just my opinion.

Re: slash class tire cutting/siping
If your track allows you to run tires that dont come stock on the truck(like the proline switches-bowties-j concept goose bumps etc,,,,,,) than why not let people cut their stock tires?jeff wrote:should tire cutting/siping be allowd in the stock class? it makes one tire lug into two, and allows more flex of the tread, making the tire be able to grab every bit of traction it can,

Re: slash class tire cutting/siping
Most tracks who run a Stock sct or Slash spec class and allow aftermarket tires will NOT allow any cutting or tread mod to the tire .
They only class that you are allowed to do this is a "OPEN" class.
That is the rule at our track.

Hey Sean, I totally agree. Tire cutting should not be allowed! Unless you run in open electric that is. I'm new to this and all, but it just seems like another unfail mod, getting away from the stock idea.

Re: slash class tire cutting/siping
Please pardon my ignorance but anyone know how much faster the slash is with cut tires vs stock?

cut tires
I believe that you will find that they are about the same. It all comes down to what some believe is extra traction with the cut tires and once again, driver ability.

Re: slash class tire cutting/siping
all driver ability? then why are the tires on your car siped? extra traction, the more lug flex the more the tire can grab.

Re: slash class tire cutting/siping
tires are only a part of racing. you need traction yes. but u also need to be able to drive your truck. if u have all the traction in the world but u cannot drive then it does not matter what u do to your tires. adam ciley of team fasttraxx took first place in slash with a literaly box stock slash. his truck doesnt even have aluminum hop ups or anything. hes has only raced this type of truck 4 other races and hes pretty damn good.
